1. About my business

Handmade in Cahoots is the trading name of Eirwen Lewis, a sole trader based in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom.

Contact email: info@handmadeincahoots.co.uk

These terms apply to purchases made through my website and, where relevant, commissions agreed directly with me.

Please read these terms before placing an order. Nothing in them affects your statutory consumer rights.

2. My products

I design and make handmade accessories, bags, hats, home décor and other textile items, often using reclaimed, recycled or upcycled fabrics.

Many of my products are unique or made in small batches. Reclaimed materials may show signs of previous use, subtle variations or minor imperfections. Where relevant, I will describe these in the product listing.

I aim to represent colours, textures, dimensions and details as accurately as possible. However, colours can appear differently on different screens.

Natural variations and disclosed characteristics of reclaimed materials do not affect your statutory rights if an item is faulty, unsafe or not as described.

3. Prices and payment

All prices will be displayed in pounds sterling (£) and include applicable taxes.Any delivery charge will be shown before you complete your purchase.

Payment must be completed using the payment methods offered at checkout. Payments may be processed securely by a third-party payment provider.

Your order confirmation will set out the items ordered, the amount payable and the relevant order details.

4. Placing an order

When you place an order, you are making an offer to purchase the products selected.I will acknowledge receipt of your order by email. The order confirmation and any subsequent acceptance will explain when the purchase contract is formed.

If I cannot fulfil an order, I will contact you and refund any payment taken for the unfulfilled order.

Please check your delivery details carefully before submitting your order.

5. Delivery

I currently deliver to addresses within the United Kingdom.

Available delivery methods, charges and estimated dispatch or delivery times will be displayed at checkout or explained before you place your order.

I will aim to dispatch ready-made items within 3 days (excluding weekends). If an item is made to order, the expected time frame will be explained before purchase.

If a different delivery date has not been agreed, I will deliver within the period required by law.

Once an order has been dispatched, I will provide any available delivery confirmation or tracking details.

If there is a significant delay or a problem with delivery, please contact me at: info@handmadeincahoots.co.uk

6. Your right to cancel an online purchase

For most standard goods purchased online, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days after receiving the goods, without giving a reason.

To exercise this right, please tell me clearly by email or in writing before the cancellation period expires.

You may then have a further 14 days to return the goods.

Unless the goods are faulty, incorrect or another legal exception applies, you will generally be responsible for the direct cost of returning cancelled goods, provided you were informed of this before purchase.

I will refund eligible payments, including the standard outbound delivery charge where required by law, within the applicable legal time frame. I may be entitled to deduct an amount for diminished value if the goods have been handled beyond what is necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning.

Some products are exempt from the usual cancellation right, including goods made to the consumer’s specifications or clearly personalised. This exception will only be applied where the legal requirements are met. Being handmade, unique or made to order does not automatically remove the right to cancel.

Nothing in this section limits your rights if goods are faulty, damaged or not as described.

7. Faulty or Incorrect Items

I want you to be happy with your purchase. If an item arrives damaged, is faulty or does not match its description, please contact me: at info@handmadeincahoots.co.uk, with your order number and, if helpful, photographs.

You have statutory rights in these circumstances, which may include repair, replacement, a price reduction or a refund, depending on the situation and the applicable law.

These rights are separate from the change-of-mind cancellation policy.

8. Commissions and bespoke work

I accept enquiries about commissioned work, including projects involving upcycled materials or fabrics supplied by customers.

Before starting a commission, I will agree with you in writing:

  • The item or work to be produced.
  • The materials to be used and who will supply them.
  • The price and any deposit or staged payments.
  • The expected completion and delivery time frame.
  • Any agreed design details, measurements or other requirements.

Work will begin once the agreed arrangements and any required initial payment have been confirmed.

Because commissions are individually developed, the finished item may have small variations in colour, pattern placement or detail, particularly where reclaimed fabrics are used. I will discuss any significant proposed change with you.

If you wish to change or cancel a commission after work has begun, please contact me as soon as possible. Any cancellation charges or refund arrangements will depend on the agreed contract and applicable law. I will not impose an unfair or disproportionate charge.

The statutory cancellation exception for genuinely personalised goods may apply to some commissions, but it will not apply automatically to every commissioned item. Where a cancellation right applies, I will respect it.

9. Customer-supplied fabrics and garments

If you provide a garment, fabric or other material for a commission, we will agree in advance what work is to be carried out and any known limitations.

Please ensure that you are entitled to give me the item for alteration or reuse.

I will take reasonable care when handling your materials. However, existing wear, weakness, stains, previous repairs or other hidden defects may affect what can safely or successfully be achieved.

I will contact you if I discover a significant issue that affects the agreed work.

The treatment of any unused material, offcuts or leftover fabric will be agreed with you before the work begins.

10. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the original photographs, product descriptions, illustrations and other creative content on this website belong to me or are used with permission.

You may not reproduce or use this content commercially without appropriate permission.

Buying a handmade product does not, by itself, transfer ownership of the intellectual property in its design or associated artwork.

11. Liability and consumer rights

I will meet my legal obligations in relation to the products and services I supply.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, or removes any rights you have under consumer protection law.

12. Complaints and contact

If you have a concern about an order or commission, please contact me at: info@handmadeincahoots.co.uk.

I will do my best to understand the issue and work towards a fair resolution.

  1. 13. Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. The version applicable to your purchase will be the version agreed for that transaction, subject to any changes agreed with you and applicable law.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.
